COSL: FAQ

frequently asked questions

Got a question about the Central Oregon Soccer League? We should have an answer!

If you don't find an answer in the following FAQ's, please contact the COSL Coordinator.

When are practices?

Teams will practice one to two days a week and will have games on weekends*.

*Pre-K/Kindergarten teams will have a 30-minute practice before their weekend game. They will NOT practice during the week UNLESS optional practices, based on field availability, are coordinated between the coach and the club.

We'll do our best to schedule practices at local elementary and middle schools. However, some teams may practice at the Bend FC Timbers facility at Pine Nursery Park or at another local park, depending on school availability.

We have to wait until the Bend Parks and Rec Department and Bend-LaPine School District release fields to us for scheduling. We know you like to plan ahead, so please know, we're doing our utmost to plan and schedule practices as soon as possible.

How do I get my uniforms?

Beginning in 2023, we discounted league fees and no longer provide uniforms. All players must order their uniform kits directly from the vendor. You will receive an email in December explaining the uniform process. IMPORTANT: Uniform numbers are preassigned by COSL and are linked directly to how we are identifying you in our system. You must order your assigned number to avoid duplicates.

Participants are responsible for ordering their own uniform in a timely fashion.

When ordering your uniform kit, you must order two jerseys: one white and one black (for boys), and one red and one gray (for girls). Uniforms are used for two seasons (2025/2026), and you can order replacement gear as needed. 2025 is the start of a new 2-year cycle.

Where are games played?

Games will be played at one of three locations:

We have more than 120 teams to schedule, and often coaches covering multiple teams, so please bear with us as we address and accommodate all scheduling considerations. We will get games scheduled as quickly as we can after we finalize teams.

What days are games?

Games are always on weekends. You'll play most games on Saturdays although we do sometimes have to schedules games on Sundays. Some older teams may have the opportunity to play under the "Friday Night Lights". You may have a "bye" weekend where your team is off and/or you may have a weekend where you play twice. Field availability ultimately determines our scheduling.

What are my team colors?

Each player must have two jerseys, one for home games*, and one for away games*, using the following guide:

  • Players will wear black for home games and gray for away games.
  • Your game schedule will identify whether you're the home or away team. Please make sure to check it before heading to your game, and always remember to bring both jerseys, just in case.

It's important to note that teams having the same uniform:

  • Unifies the league and gives players a club identity.
  • Enables us to combine players from different teams and make tournament or "Rec-Star" teams.

  • *HOME AND AWAY GAMES ARE ALL PLAYED AT OUR BEND FIELDS. THE DIFFERENTIATION IS FOR THE PURPOSE OF WHICH JERSEY TO WEAR.

How much does it cost?

The cost for the Central Oregon Soccer League is $145 per player. Fees include:

  • All registration fees, team equipment fees, and insurance.
  • Professional staff will support the volunteer coaches.

Additionally, uniforms cost approximately $40 plus shipping. Again, your COSL fees do not include uniforms kits. This was new beginning the 2023 Season. You will receive information on how to order your uniform in December (the uniform store will open in January). Ordering information will also be available on the COSL page in the UNIFORMS menu tab.

How many games will I play?

Each team is guaranteed a minimum of six and maximum of seven games during a season. Grades 3-8 will have two practices a week, grades 1-2 will practice 1 day per week. Pre-kindergarten and kindergarten teams will have only one practice or game per week.

Practice times and days are determined by the coach and are based on field availability. Practices might not be at your neighborhood school. We will work closely with the Bend-LaPine School District to provide field options at local schools but are limited to what they offer us. It's important to remember that other sports also are vying for field time, such as baseball and softball.

How are teams formed?

The goal is to form teams based on grade and school. We'll definitely consider coach requests during the first registration period of a season. Friend requests are not a consideration when forming teams. During the second registration period, players will only be able to register for specific teams that have roster spots available. All teams will have a maximum number of players with no exceptions.

What is the COSL Refund Policy?

Refunds for the Central Oregon Soccer League will be granted in full (minus a $10.00 processing fee) on or before December 1, 2024.

From December 1 - January 5, 2025, a player wishing to cancel will be refunded 50% of the registration fee.

After January 5, 2025, there will be no refunds available.

I can't find my profile in your system?

Bend FC is excited to be using a new operating platform called PlayMetrics. Your player and account information did not transfer from our old system, so please create a new profile when prompted. You'll be asked to add your players again too. Sorry for any inconvenience.

We'll do our best to schedule practices near area schools, based on team formation, but it is important to note that COACHES choose their practice locations. Many teams practice at the Bend FC Timbers facility at Pine Nursery Park and others practice at local parks or schools, depending on the fields that are made available to us.

We cannot schedule practices until Bend Parks and Rec Department and Bend-LaPine School District release fields to us, which does not happen until the first week of March at the earliest. We know you like to plan ahead and it is difficult not knowing practice schedules until right before the season starts.  Please know, we're doing our utmost to plan and schedule practices as soon as possible.
